Q:  When must a residential mortgage loan originator (MLO) provide their unique identifier?

A:  A registered MLO shall provide his or her unique identifier to a consumer:
  • Upon request;
  • Before acting as a mortgage loan originator; and
  • Through the originator's initial written communication with a consumer, if any, whether on paper or electronically.
